Hicks victorious in 602 Late Model at Ultimate Motorsports Park; fourth with American All-Stars
Returning to his Crate Late Model rides, Benji Hicks unloaded both his 602 and 604 Late Models for the Breast Cancer Battle Weekend at Ultimate Motorsports and RV Park (Elkin, N.C.) on Friday evening.
With only 602 Late Models on Friday's card, Hicks lined up on the third row of the 20-lap feature and quickly advanced into the Top-3 before taking the lead on lap 10. Benji dominated the second half of the A-Main and beat Preston Blalock and Austin Mintz to collect the $1,200 payday.
For Saturday's $5,000-to-win American All-Star show, Benji locked himself into the show with the 12th-fastest lap out of 27 Late Models who took times. In the 40-lap main event, Hicks stormed through the field to land just off the podium in fourth. He trailed Dillon Brown, Jesse Lowe, and Josh Dietz while Justin Hudspeth completed the Top-5.
